Delegation from the University of Warwick visits ShanghaiTech

On July 9, a delegation from the University of Warwick, consisting of Associate Director of International Strategy & Relations (ISR) Emily Lim, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research Sotaro Kita and professors from various faculties, visited ShanghaiTech University. They were warmly received by ShanghaiTech Vice President Zhu Zhiyuan. Representatives from the School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST), School of Entrepreneurship and Management (SEM), School of Creativity and Art (SCA), Institute of Humanities (IH), and the Office of International Affairs (OIA) attended the meeting.

 


Firstly, Zhu Zhiyuan welcomed the delegation and expressed his anticipation forfurther collaborations between ShanghaiTech and the University of Warwick, particularly in areas like student andfacultyexchanges as well as joint research activities. Following this, Nie Yan, Deputy Director of OIA, provided an overview of ShanghaiTech. Emily Lim then introduced the University of Warwick, covering its development history, global ranking, and internationalization efforts. She was open to the idea of pursuing further cooperation with ShanghaiTech and welcomed ShanghaiTech students to participate in Warwick’s summer schools.

 

Prior to the meeting, the delegation toured several schools led by Vice Dean of SCA Wang Shouzhi, Vice Dean of SEM Yang Yu, Assistant Dean of IH Wu Jingyue, and Assistant Dean of SPST Mi Qixi. Through discussions with school leaders and professors, the delegation gained a deeper understanding of ShanghaiTech, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations.

 

Other members of the Warwick delegation included Dariusz Ceglarek, EPSRC Star Recruit Research Chair of Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG); Anne Gerritsen, Professor of the Department of History and Director of Research; Lu Xianguo, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics; Chen Mingli, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Warwick-China Coordinator; and Thomas Clayburn, International Partnerships Manager (E&SE Asia) of ISR.
