On July 16, Professor Shen Dinggang, founding dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded the Technical Achievement Award for 2024 from the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS).
IEEE EMBS is one of the most influential academic organizations in the field of biomedical engineering. The Technical Achievement Award is established to recognize individuals or teams who have made outstanding achievements, contributions, and innovations in the field. The award is rigorously selected and is honored to no more than five scientists worldwide annually. This year, Professor Shen Dinggang was one of the only two scientists to receive the award for his “outstanding contributions to automated analysis and interpretation of medical imaging data.” Previously, Professor Shen had already been recognized as an IEEE Fellow, AIMBE Fellow, IAPR Fellow, MICCAI Fellow, and ISMRM Fellow. This award further affirms Professor Shen’s influence in the field.
